Ribbon Lift – A New Type of Face Lift Procedure
Due to the effects of gravity and aging, the skin near the neck and jaw can sag. To overcome this problem, you can go for a new procedure known as the ribbon lift. Ribbon lift is a minimally invasive surgery which is suitable for those who are heavy necked or who would like to restore their youthful appearance.
In ribbon lift procedure, an incision is made behind the ear and a biodegradable tube is inserted. When this tube is pulled, the sagging skin under the neck is restored. This procedure takes about 30 minutes and its results last for about 3 to 5 years. After some time, the tube is absorbed into the muscle.
Ribbon lift is becoming popular because of its good results and shorter recovery time. In fact, there have been reports that Madonna underwent a ribbon lift treatment for the Academy Awards function this year. According to Plastic surgeon Alex Kardis, the secret behind Madonna’s wrinkle-free skin and youthful appearance during the award function can be attributed to Ribbon lift procedure
How is Ribbon Lift Done?
An endotine ribbon used in this procedure is bio absorb able and it has several hooks which can attach to the muscle tissue. The following are the steps involved in this procedure:
An incision is made around the ear. The ribbon, which is similar to a tube, is tunneled into through the incision into the skin. The hooks present on the ribbon attach themselves to the muscle and tissue under the neck. The surgeon now pulls the ribbon to lift the whole area to give a toned look to the skin. This procedure gives rise to excess skin around the earlobe, which can be trimmed.
This surgery costs about 6000$ and it just takes about 30 to 45 minutes. It has minimal side-effects such as bruising. After 2 months the ribbon is dissolved into the body and effects last for about 3 to 5 years.
During the first week, the person is required to wear a neck support. For about 4 months, vigorous activity should be restricted. The recovery time for this surgery is 1 week.
This procedure is based on time-tested surgical principles. Ribbon lift is minimally invasive and a person undergoing this procedure can immediately see an improvement in the jaw and neck areas. Hence, if you would like to get rid of wrinkles and sagging skin, ribbon lift can be ideal for you.
